Maths
We follow the NCETM Mastering Number approach in Reception. This helps us to build secure firm foundations in the development of good number sense for all children, developing children's fluency and flexibility with number. Attention will be given to key knowledge and understanding needed in Reception classes, and progression through KS1 to support success in the future.
As well as this, we also teach the children about Shape, Space and Measure, building up their understanding of concepts such as pattern, properties of shapes, and measurement.
Summer 2
In maths this term, we will be using rekenreks to explore and demonstrate our understanding of number bonds to 5 and 10.
We will also be consolidating our understanding of odd and even numbers to 10.
In Shape, Space and Measure, we will recap our learning about the months of the year. We will also using our problem-solving skills to deepen our understanding of length, weight, capacity, time, and position and direction.
